MOVE IT RETURNS FOR ITS 14TH YEAR WITH AMAZING HEADLINERS, BREATH-TAKING TALENT, 250+ CLASSES, A FREE SEMINAR PROGRAMME, A NEW TWO-NIGHT EVENT WITH THE ROYAL FAMILY DANCE CREW AND THE BIGGEST DANCE FASHION TRENDS
The world’s biggest dance event returned to ExCeL London on 8-10 March 2019 and this year attracted a record 31,389 people from the performing arts community – a 7% increase from the 2018 show.

This year the show’s creative ambassadors, Aston Merrygold of JLS and BASE Studios added even more energy and inspiration to the three-day festival. Other names on the impressive headliner line-up included Layton Williams who is currently starring as Jamie New in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Strictly Come Dancing’s Neil and Katya Jones, Cirque du Soleil, Brandon Lawrence (Birmingham Royal Ballet), Flawless, Company Chameleon, Company Wayne McGregor, Jasmin Vardimon Company, Kloe Dean – Myself UK Dance, tap legend Jason Samuels Smith (presented by BLOCH), as well as Eleiyah Navis and Harry Smallman, Company Jinks, Dane Bates Collective, James and Oliver, Prospects Fraternity, the Globe Girls and Olu Alatise all of whom recently appeared on BBC’s The Greatest Dancer. Visitors got the chance to see our headliners perform on the MOVE IT Main Stage and/or were taught by them in the MOVE IT dance studios.

The 2019 class programme featured over 250 classes covering a wealth of dance styles taught by some of the best teachers and studios in the sector including Jennifer Ellison, LSC and Pineapple to name a few.

The show also featured a programme of inspiring seminars and panel debates led by some of the top artists and industry professionals across the performing arts sector and for the first time this year all content was free to access. The timetable covered everything from how to pick the right training, to choreographic insights with Company Wayne McGregor, to using social media as a platform for success and more…

For those interested in a bit of shopping, MOVE IT hosted around 200 companies on the show floor including BLOCH, Dancez, Grishko and many more! Brands also came to life on the new show catwalk – the Rhythm Runway providing the perfect opportunity to spot the latest dance fashion trends.

We were also thrilled to host 2 evening events for the first time on Fri 8th and Sat 9th! MOVE IT After Dark was headlined by the world’s biggest dance crew The Royal Family who flew in from New Zealand. Friday’s 2-hour intensive workshop gave visitors the chance to learn everything about the crew’s signature ‘polyswagg’ style choreography. The global sensation returned on Saturday supported by finalists from BBC’s the Greatest Dancer and X-Factor Finalists the LMA Choir for an unforgettable evening performance!

Other returning show favourites included:
The Freestyle Stage: here visitors expressed themselves to music selected by our resident DJ, all styles were welcome from contemporary to krump, tapping to tango.

The Showcase Theatre: Featuring all of the UK’s best colleges and schools showcasing their talent and the wide range of training they offer.

The Roller Rink: A fun roller rink disco which hosted open skate sessions, dazzling performances and amazing dance classes throughout the day.

Next year MOVE IT will be celebrating its 15th year anniversary – it’s set to be the biggest and best show yet! The 2020 event takes place on 13-15 March.
